2019 26 Red Wine Blend

Growing Season

The beginning of the 2019 growing season was defined by copious rainfall and late soil moisture. The long, warm summer saw very few extreme heat events, with foggy mornings setting the stage for vibrant and expressive wines. The long, relatively mild finish to the season allowed us to capture all of the richness, tension and vibrant expression offered in the fruit.

Tasting Notes

"Tar, plum, cedar, tobacco, black currant, coconut, vanilla, blackberry and orange zest in the nose. Cocoa, cherry, plum, in rich attack, turns to cedar, blackberry, tar on the mid palate. Bright blueberry, tar, plum and black truffle in a long finish with wonderful tight grain tannins with enough heft for years of aging."--Aaron Pott, Winemaker, 11/15/2021

"The 2019 Red Wine Blend 26 is stunning and certainly in the same realm as the 2018. Revealing a deep purple hue, it has a vivid nose of blueberries, cassis, wildflowers, and violets as well as medium to full-bodied, seamless style on the palate. With terrific tannins, nicely integrated acidity, and flawless balance, it's a gorgeous Spring Mountain red blend to drink over the coming 20 years or so. I absolutely love it."--Jeb Dunnuck, December, 2021

International Wine Report--96 points

"The 2019 Proprietary Red Blend is composed of 43% Cabernet Sauvignon 23% Malbec 17% Cabernet Franc 17% Petit Verdot and it is another outstanding wine from Fe wines. It begins to impress with its wonderful aromatics of ripe dark cherries and plums, which are accented by iron, loam, violets and a lovey touch of sweet oak nuances. This possesses a gorgeous medium to full body that is beautifully structured and polished. It goes on to display outstanding concentration ending with a long, supple finish. This is extremely attractive today, especially with a few hours of air contact, that being said, this should have no problem lasting a decade or two in the cellar."--Joe D'Angelo, March 2022
